Aberdeen University - Royal Aberdeen - 1 March 2015
This was the first day of 2015 that Balgownie was back to "summer" conditions - playing without the need for mats. Four temporary greens were in use, but that did not overly detract from the day, with matches played in sunny conditions, albeit with a cool westerly breeze.

Glasgow University - Kilmarnock Barassie - 8 March 2015
A new venue for a SUGS fixture - Barassie now been the home course of the Glasgow students. Due to a late call off SUGS were a man down, and Nicky Gold narrowly missed out on contributing to the SUGS tally despite having 3 birdies on the back 9. Hammond and Reid were putted off the course by the students, but the rest of the team delivered, thus continuing the unbeaten start to 2015. The Captain noted that the Glasgow team have improved considerably in the last 12 months!

London University GS - Royal St Georges - 13 March 2015
Another fine day in the SUGS annals with a resounding victory over the LUGS at Royal St George’s, Sandwich on Friday 13th March 2015 – unlucky for the LUGS as it turned out.
SUGS won all but one match in the morning and lunched well, faring even better in the afternoon. Whilst a whitewash was on the cards, Sandy Reid played a captain’s role in agreeing a honourable half in the afternoon to ensure an overall result of LUGS 1.5 to SUGS 10.5. Sadly our counterparts on the rugby pitch could not fair quite so well.
As usual we were royally entertained in the (newly refurbished) Royal St George’s dining room. The climax of the evening came after dinner when Roddy Forgie (our debutant) was paired against Ed Clutton in the umbrella game. Roddy’s swan dive across the finishing line as Ed struggled to find his feet on the RSG lawn was a site that already has him down as a legend in this game. Well played. See the photo of the shoe shiners in the "News" section.

Dispatch Trophy - Braids Hills - May 2015
Team names not recorded, lost in 3rd round
Midlothian Ladies - Gullane - 29 May 2015
The annual (foursomes) match was played a week earlier than usual, but the weather was more representative of a cool, blustery, and at times showery day in early spring rather than the summery conditions more typically associated with the fixture. The usual debate about handicaps / SSS adjustments ensued at the start, but when it came to business on the course, the ladies played well enough for a comfortable victory. Unfortunately, the Hon Sec had forgotten to ensure the trophy would be present - the excuse that he hadn't played in last year's match and didn't have the trophy in any case was as poor as the match result was for SUGS! In the absence of SUGS Captain Sandy Reid (playing poker in Macau!), Vice Captain Colin congratulated the ladies on their comprehensive win.

St Andrews SUGS - St Andrews (Jubilee) - 23 August 2015
Match preceded by excellent dinner for the second year in Ham's Hame where the draw for the four balls was made in time honoured fashion. This year however St ASUGS insisted on negotiating for strokes and it was agreed that each game would take 1/2 difference from the low player. This did not work out as planned and in glorious weather on the Jubilee course SUGS achieved a white wash 5 - 0 victory, the first in match history!

Gullane GC - Gullane No. 1 - 6 September 2015
With 7 SUGS members playing for Gullane, and 1 Gullane member playing for SUGS, there was no shortage of familiar faces at this year's encounter. Both sides were delighted to be joined for lunch by Archie Baird, who has done much to further the cause of both Gullane and SUGS in the last 30+ years. Called into the Gullane side at the last minute, he subsequently elected not to play, but can still be seen on a regular basis playing Gullane dinner matches with the aid of his buggy. The match itself was played in sunny conditions, and the result, an amicable draw, was a suitable reflection on matches of this ilk, where the result is immaterial.

Summer Meeting - Worplesdon GC - 17 October 2015
Following cancellation in July due to a flooded course, the Summer Meeting was rearranged for October, only one week before the Autumn Meeting! For various reasons there were only 3 participants, but the golf was of a very high standard. Local member Ian Attoe (69, -2), who won the English Seniors Championship over his home course in June, capped off a superb season to edge Sandy Phillips (70, -1) by a shot. Jonny Calder played well but was up against 2 in-form golfers.
