Scottish Universities Golfing Society (est 1906)

Welcome to Scottish Universities Golfing Society (“SUGS”) website. We are a small society with around 200 members (all of whom played university golf while students), and play a wide range of fixtures each season against the current Scottish University golf teams. Matches are held against teams from the Oxford & Cambridge, London, Dublin and Queens (Belfast) University Golfing Societies, and we also participate in various other matches and competitions.

We hold a Spring Meeting (normally held at Prestwick GC) and an Autumn Meeting (normally held at Gullane GC), where members compete for the Society’s trophies, some of which date from the 1930’s. 

Having been founded in 1906, we celebrated our centenary at a special event in October 2006, as documented here. An excellent history of the Society was written by former Captain, Gordon G. Simmonds, to mark the occasion.
